The Amazon Adventure

Amazon Adventure Photo Journal

Let me take you along on a journey that I will remember for the rest of my life. This was not a “VIP” tour package, but an adventure we put together ad hoc from day-to-day. It included seeking out our own guide on the streets of Iquitos, Peru, and almost getting flim-flammed in the process (read my journal entries), but resulted in the most incredible experience of my life (thus far!).

Over the span of 7 days in Peru, my father, sister and I traveled 16 hours in a tug boat up the Amazon River to the Rio Ucayali (River), a tributary that is the origin of the Amazon River. From there we took a boat 20 minutes up a smaller river to our basecamp. Mid-week we canoed several hours up an even smaller river to Lake Carmen, where we spotted caimen, swam with piranhas and battled the sweltering heat.

Relive my incredible adventure through the journal of a younger, more brash iteration of myself. And here’s to inspiring the sense of adventure within you!

You only live once, so make it memorable and live without regrets!
