The “Internet Marketing Oracle” Series; Day 2 – Autoresponders
Welcome to The “Internet Marketing Oracle” Series; Day 2 – Autoresponders.
First, we will start with a definition:
Autoresponder (Auto-responder) - A series of sequential email messages sent by your website to the visitor, separated by any number of days, that is triggered when a user provides some requested information via an “opt-in” or “squeeze” page form. For example, a visitor visits your site and submits their name and email via a webform, they are then immediately (Day 0) emailed some useful information (eBook, etc..), on Day 3 they are emailed more info, then again on Day 10 some new information, etc. With the objective of getting your prospect progressively closer to making the purchase with each subsequent email.
The Autoresponder is the heart of your Internet Marketing machine. It accomplishes several things, including:
- Capturing email addresses and building your database
- Creating an opt-in relationship with prospects, which gives you permission to market to them
- Presenting information, and building rapport and trust with prospects so that you can sell them products
- Operating without your involvement; It’s autonomous and works 24/7/365
There are several options available to you. The traditional favorite and most economical has been aWeber.
The relative newcomer, most expensive and self-declared most feature-rich is called Infusionsoft.
Both of these autoresponders charge a monthly fee.
If you would prefer to pay just a little bit only once, and don’t mind a creative solution, then I recommend Acajoom. However, to use Acajoom, you will need to install it in a Joomla website. Of course, the Joomla website does not need to be your primary website and can be installed in a sub-directory of your current website. Talk to your programmer for more on this. I will warn you that some programmers do not like working with Joomla because it aims to make website management easy, which means less work for programmers. Anyways, Acajoom and Joomla are a great, economic, and basic work-around if you want to avoid paying recurring monthly fees for your autoresponder.
Having said that, I have given you several Autoresponder options and you will learn a little more about them by signing up as a prospect in my autoresponder in the next lesson.
Your autoresponder is, without a doubt, the heart of your Internet marketing machine, so make sure that you understand it by reviewing the websites of the offerings above, experiencing the sequence of email messages from my autoresponder and doing some additional research for yourself on the Internet.
Tomorrow, we’ll discuss where our site stands in regards to initial traffic, and define the keyword phrase that we will use to drive traffic and more…
